Reading List Jan 20 to 27 2010

My Reading List Last Week: Dinotopia(****), The World Beneath(****1/2), The Fudge Series(***), The Twenty-One Balloons(*****):D

I strongly recommend The Twenty-One Balloons. It is a masterpiece of pure adventure. Very enjoyable art work. The Twenty-One Balloons captures and finely produces a combination of fact and fiction; reality and imagination.

Dinotopia and its sequel, The World Beneath, present the stunning art work of the author, James Gurney. The World Beneath, however, gives a larger thrill and fast paced action. It explores the unexplored underground of Dinotopia, giving a whole new perspective of the dinosaur-inhabited continent. However, Gurney fails to give enough suspense, thus partially limiting the climaxes.

The Fudge Series: decently written and filled with heart and soul.

Casio. The Perfect Brand. For me. grins. I got this a few months ago at a place in town. Really nice. Tough, yes. See those scratches? Done by me I confess. Guys. Please understand. I got it at a decent discount price. I forgot…err…let me see….yep at 140…wonderful. I like Casio because I have been using it for like 3 years-ish? Haha….I hope it’s gonna to last me. Better take more care of it. But accidents happen…in a fit of carelessness one does rash things that causes one’s 140 buck watch to experience a concussion. Sad right. I know.

I didn’t know that a person could learn so much from just a laminated sheet of processed wood printed with a colorful pattern of boxes.

2010!

I was literally rolled out of bed. By my sis (who else?). I look around. The world was still intact. So was my mind. Wheee! How lame. Now I’m downloding Puzzle Pirates. Seems to take quite a while. I feel the same, as I always do. Going out to eat for lunch. Japanese it seems:)

Ready to Roll

2010. Sad. No…happy…yet sad…bittersweet…w/e. Argh…I can’t get my headphones + mic tomorrow cause all shops are closed. Sorry Shan…

Wel…I got to be ready—ready to roll into the new year. I don’t want to leave 2009! But I have to move forward. Great. Well. This is life I guess.

2 and a 1/2 hrs left. The right hand moves forward…so will my life..wait…do I smell sentimalism? I hate that:D

The Peanut’s Up Review

Up is a new 3D film by Pixar released in May 2009. I was highly anticipating its release. And I can tell you…very highly. I was following it on Facebook (not twitter cause I hate it) closely. When they finally released it, it turned out to be a hit…with everyone. Well, almost.

For those who have know idea what ‘Up’ is, the film is basically about an old guy named Carl. He ties balloons to his house in hopes of getting it to Paradise Falls, a supposedly beautiful place. He does this because for his late wife’s sake. A young American-Asian kid becomes a stow-away. When they land in Venezuela, they encounter all sorts of dangers, friends, and enemies.

The film is poignant, I must admit. The sentimental scenes are expertly painted and well-formed. Up is wonderfully animated and this gets a 10 from me. The colors are dazzling and vibrant. The action is interesting but lacks structure. The plot is the downfall of this movie. Cheap, thin, and superficial, it attempts to communicate the film’s main point. I just don’t know, but this time, Pixar has really disappointed. Pixar now, unfortunately, thinks that its animation will hold up anything they create. However, the company has space to improve itself. Up duly deserves a B-, sorry.

The New Kid

Yep…I’m really green. I’m not even sure how this blog works. But I’m trying…
